The B060 is the first f/2.8 ultra-wide-angle zoom for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras. Despite its fast aperture, the lens remains compact (86.2 mm long) and is therefore perfectly balanced for an APS-C body. For video, it can be easily used with a small tripod or 3-axis stabilizer.

At 11 mm, it offers remarkable close-up shooting performance, with a minimum focusing distance of 15 cm and a magnification ratio of 1:4. The B060 is protected by a moisture-resistant construction and a fluorine coating. Its exceptional optical performance includes BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) coating, which suppresses ghosting and flare and reveals details in subjects, even in backlit conditions. Its 67mm filter size is identical to the 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD (Model B070) for Sony E APS-C and almost all TAMRON Di III series lenses. The 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD is compatible with Sony camera features including Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF.

The 11-20mm F/2.8 has a minimum focusing distance of 15cm at 11mm and 24cm at 20mm. This results in more versatile shooting performance than existing ultra-wide-angle lenses. At 11mm, it has a magnification ratio of 1:4 which opens up wide-angle macro photography that takes advantage of expressive bokeh thanks to the f/2.8 aperture.

The 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD lens kit combined with the 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD (model B070) weigh only 860g. This combination is equivalent to a 16.5-105mm f/2.8 constant full-frame. The B060 model is combined with the 67mm philosophy (E and FE Di III range lenses) which allows the sharing of filters (common diameter of 67mm) and is part of an approach of compactness and lightness designed for hybrids. Rapid Extra-Silent Drive – RXD is highly responsive, making it ideal for taking photos and videos of moving subjects. A sensor constantly detects the current focus setting, allowing continuous autofocus (AF-C) to precisely target the rotation angle needed to achieve focus at lightning speed.
