With its base sensitivity of ISO 8004, the FX6 offers optimal dynamic range for well-lit interiors and outdoor documentary shooting. An enhanced sensitivity of ISO 128004 is also available for challenging low-light, morning and evening shooting. The FX6 offers an exceptional dynamic range of more than 15 stops2, beyond the perception of the human eye in many conditions, allowing unprecedented creative freedom in color grading and post-production.

Accuracy and Consistency
Long-range AF uses intelligent tracking and sensor-based phase detection to reliably track the subject across most of the image (6275 Focal Plane Phase Detection AF covers approximately 89% of the image). The hybrid AF system ensures accurate focus, even when shooting at shallow depth of field and high frame rates of 120p in 4K (QFHD)6.

Real-time Eye AF and Face Detection
Real-time Eye AF and Face Detection provide accurate and stable focus for interviews, events, and more. Sophisticated real-time processing enables accurate focusing even when subjects are looking down or up at acute angles, allowing the operator to fully concentrate on composing the best shot.

Great focus control for solo professionals
Over 7 levels of AF transition speed and over 5 levels of AF sensitivity to subject movement give you creative freedom.

Auto focus subject selection with the adapter ring
When the AF assist function is activated, a rotation of the zoom ring instantly switches from AF to manual focus to quickly select another subject. Auto focus resumes as soon as the user stops turning the zoom ring on the lens.

Auto focus area/position
For AF, you can set the target area from Flexible Spot, Zone, Wide and quickly change the target area position during shooting by simply touching the LCD screen.

4K7 120 fps with focus on every frame
High frame rate shooting can turn everyday action into a visual feast of elegant motion. The FX6 captures up to 120 frames per second (fps) in 4K (QFHD). Slow motion and fast motion modes give you full control over the frame rate from 1 to 120 fps, enabling storytelling with precise motion and the ability to slow the image up to 5x with Super Slow Motion (24 fps output).

Auto focus with Sony E-type lenses
Experience fast, smooth autofocus with Sony E-type lenses, with optical performance and handling for demanding film applications. The unique actuator technology of Sony E-Type lenses enables faster, more accurate AF to support your creative efforts.

Integrated Variable Neutral Density Electronic Filter
The FX6 is equipped with Sony's unique built-in Variable Neutral Density (ND) electronic filter. Unlike conventional optical ND filters, the FX6's electronic ND filter can be controlled from 1/4 ND to 1/128 ND in a linear fashion, or set to automatic. Ideal for changing environments, there is no need to change filters when light conditions change or to maintain your depth of field.

Ideal for low-angle shooting, the Smart Grip is part of the FX6's modular design. It's easy to reconfigure for any application: gimbal mounting, drone mounting or underwater housing.

Magnesium housing and frame: lightweight and durable
For maximum reliability in harsh conditions, the housing, covers and top handle are made of a lightweight magnesium alloy. The main frame offers strength and durability for minimal weight, and more mobility.

Architecture designed to avoid thermal shutdown
The custom ventilation and chassis design prevents thermal shutdown when shooting8 at high refresh rates and 4K (QFHD). Everything has been calculated for optimal ventilation: the number of heat sinks, the shape of the air inlets and outlets, the location of the low-noise fan9 and the airflow paths.

4:2:2 10-bit recording
Record directly to the camera with the exceptional richness of 10-bit color sampling and 4:2:2 for greater flexibility in image grading, post-production and compositing.

All-Intra encoding available
In addition to the long GOP, internal All-Intra encoding is provided. It allows each frame to be encoded independently at bit rates of up to 600 Mb/s, capturing complex motion more accurately and enabling more efficient editing workflows.

16-bit SDI RAW output
16-bit RAW output available via SDI connection to compatible external recorders. XAVC-I files are captured simultaneously in the camera. RAW video output consists of 4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160 image sensor data, with a frame rate of 12010/10010/59.94/50/29.97/25/24/23.9811.

Shooting modes to suit the designer's workflow
The FX6 camera offers shooting modes with preset looks such as S-Cinetone that produces in-camera images, or S-Log3/S-Gamut3 with Cine-EI mode that captures perfectly exposed images for post-production.

Scene File function for easy on-location aspect changes
Four preset scene file types are available for shooting in SDR (S-Cinetone, Standard, Still, ITU709) and two for HDR (HLG Live, HLG Natural), plus 16 slots for imported user 3D LUTs for your preferred look without post-production

Outstanding grip and smart handle
Sony's Smart Grip and Intelligent Handle are easily adjusted with one button. With programmable zoom, record, and control buttons and an iris control dial, work in comfort for hours.

Professional connectivity
A wide range of professional interfaces are available: 12G-SDI and HDMI12 outputs, remote interface, TC connectors for multi-camera synchronization and SuperSpeed USB 5 Gb/s (USB 3.2), for smooth data workflows.

Multi-Interface (MI) Hotspot
The Sony Multi-Interface (MI) Hotspot provides power, signal and switch connections to compatible Sony accessories, including wireless microphone systems such as the UWP-D21 or UWP-D221113.

Audio input and four-channel recording supported
Four-channel audio input allows simultaneous capture of external microphones and the built-in microphone. UWP wireless microphones or XLR audio adapters, such as the XLR-K3M, can also be used with the MI Shoe.

Two XLR inputs and enhanced audio capabilities
The FX6's grip has two independent audio inputs, easy-to-access XLR connectors for connecting professional external microphones. UWP Series wireless microphones can also be connected via the MI Shoe.

2.76 million dot HD LCD14
The 8.89 cm (3.5") LCD allows for precise manual focusing in challenging conditions. Flexible mounting locations and angles allow comfortable shooting for a variety of preferences and setups.

Quick menu control with touchscreen operation
The LCD monitor features a quick access control menu. With a single touch, you can change the codec, image scan mode, image size and frequency, sensitivity/ISO base, shooting mode and audio levels.

Two CFexpress Type A compatible slots
Dual media slots support CFexpress Type A15 cards, as well as conventional SDXC UHS-I and UHS-II cards, for fast buffer release and data management. Simultaneous, relay, interval and proxy modes are supported.

Networking for mobility
Wi-Fi® connectivity enables a host of advanced wireless production features, such as remote control via smartphone or tablet and the Content Browser Mobile app. Easily connect with manual pairing or one-touch NFC technology.

Metadata makes editing in Catalyst easy
The FX6 stores three types of metadata: image stabilization, clip tag and camera rotation. This is useful when previewing and editing in Sony's free Catalyst Browse software or in the low-cost Catalyst Prepare16 software.
