A high-end compact digital camera. Additionally, this model is equipped with the legendary GR lens which outperforms all other GR lenses with its astonishing optical performance. Additionally, a six-element, four-group optical system is used to achieve sharp images from center to edges with clear representation. Additionally, the optical system is slim and compact, allowing the body to accommodate an in-camera shake reduction mechanism. As a result, the effects of camera shake on image quality are minimized, maximizing the full capabilities of the newly designed GR lens' optical performance for a variety of scenes.

Firstly, approximately 24.24 effective megapixels provide high image quality, and an anti-aliasing filter-free construction provides high-definition rendering even in the smallest details.

The GR III HDF features the new Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF), which emphasizes highlights and produces soft, smooth images.
As the HDF can be turned on and off with the press of a button, the user can effortlessly switch between two completely different visual expressions depending on the subject or creative intention: clear, sharp images, emblematic of RICOH GR series, and smoother, smoother images captured by HDF. High Speed Hybrid AF
This premium compact digital camera features phase-matched autofocus on the image plane that delivers high-speed autofocus and contrast-detect autofocus that delivers superb focusing precision. The best of these two types are combined to create a hybrid AF. The common problem of finding focus peaks in contrast-detect AF has been significantly reduced on this model. The hybrid system offers faster autofocus and greater precision.

Shake Reduction mechanism for 4 stages* of compensation
This model uses the type of sensor movement, the Shake Reduction mechanism. It delivers compensation on three axes.

Direct controls
The premium compact digital camera is equipped with an LCD screen supporting touch operations and a convenient control dial. These features allow quick control of AF frame movement and menu access.

Evolution
Feature-expanded firmware for an ever-expanding GR III HDF
The GR III HDF continues to evolve with the latest firmware updates. Feature-extended firmware is provided to add new features and configuration operations.

New features

The following functions are now available with the GR III HDF:
- User can pre-program up to three white balance settings as the base white balance. It is also possible to pair the basic white balance with the white balance fine adjustment function.

- The new model features Area Select AF, which automatically adjusts the focus to the most suitable point in the image area, once the user moves the 3x3 focus area to the desired area. The 3x3 focus area is the same size as auto-area AF (Center).

Flexible customization
Frequently used functions can be assigned to the ADJ lever and Fn button. Other controls can also be customized to fine-tune camera operation, making the camera easier to use and tailored to your shooting style.

The HDF ON/OFF switching function is assigned to the Fn button by default.

Image control and JPEG image adjustment
The GR III offers numerous selections of advanced imaging functions. Image adjustment settings have been redesigned to provide 10 image control options for shooting. During playback, the tones of JPEG images can be adjusted and saved as a new file.

This lens uses a slim optical system with six elements in four groups while maintaining the 18.3mm
(35 mm format equivalent: 28 mm) focal length and brightness of F2.8. High refractive index, low dispersion glass and high precision molded glass aspherical elements are optimally placed in the lens construction to suppress distortion and chromatic aberration at the absolute limit, providing superior rendering pupil.

Advanced image processing and responsiveness.
Discover the new GR ENGINE 6
The imaging processor in this model is the new GR ENGINE 6. It elevates the essential high image quality performance of the GR to an even greater level of detail. Faster processing makes a high pixel count image sensor and multi-level gradation possible in 14-bit RAW. This also helps improve responsiveness and functionality for autofocus and videos.

Shooting at ISO 102,400 is possible thanks to our original signal processing technology.
A high-performance processor “Accelerator Unit” has been adopted on this model as a powerful means of supporting high image quality. The signal emitted by the image sensor is sent to the image processor after being optimally processed.
This reduces noise, providing superb resolution and color reproduction across the entire sensitivity range. It also allows you to film at ISO 102400.

3-axis, 4-step shake reduction for high image quality over a wide shooting range
With this premium compact digital camera, camera shake is reduced for sharp images, even when taking split-second shots. Shake Reduction is installed while making the body size of GR III HDF more compact than its previous model. It minimizes buffeting in three axes, including yaw, pitch and rough. Compensation effects offer up to 4 shutter speed steps*.

AA filter simulator to reduce false colors and moire with Shake Reduction mechanism
The effects of the optical anti-aliasing (AA) filter are achieved with Shake Reduction. Moving the image sensor slightly during exposure removes false colors and moiré. You can choose to prioritize resolution or reduce false colors and moiré depending on your subject. Choose [High] or [Low] for effect settings.

A compact body and functional design with high performance
The GR III HDF was developed with a focus on maintaining a compact size while
including a high level of functionality. This model is one size smaller than the GR II and about the same size as the GR DIGITAL IV with a 1/1.7 type image sensor. A minimalist design was sought for

Touchscreen and control wheel allow intuitive controls
The LCD monitor has a touch screen. Simply touch and drag to move the AF frame or access the menu. This arrangement allows you to quickly operate the camera with a simple action while maintaining a secure grip on the high-end compact digital camera.

Hybrid AF combining image plane phase-matched autofocus and contrast-detection autofocus
The AF system is a hybrid of image-plane phase matching and contrast detection. The advantages of high-speed image plane phase-matching AF and the precision of contrast-detection AF are combined. The common problem with contrast-detection AF of finding the focus peaks has been reduced to enable the fast shooting performance required on an instant camera.

High speed approx. Boots up in 0.8 seconds from power on
A high-efficiency motor is used to drive the lens barrel so that it moves quickly from a retracted position to the shooting position. In addition, optimized program processing during startup reduces startup time. The built-in lens barrier also makes removing the lens cap unnecessary, so you'll never miss a sudden photo opportunity.

Focus modes suitable for versatile subjects and shooting styles
Eight focus modes are now available, including new Continuous AF for more versatile shooting styles. A new LCD monitor supporting touch operations has also been included for direct control of the AF frame using touch and slide gestures. You can also focus (Touch AF) and shoot while moving the AF frame for quick shooting in any type of composition.

Face detection autofocus for easier portrait shooting
The premium compact digital camera detects faces and focuses. This feature is enabled in [Auto-area AF], [Select AF] and [Single AF]. It is also possible to enable this feature in [Auto-area AF] only. With this setting, when you want to focus on a subject rather than faces, simply switch focus modes without turning off face detection.

With Full Press Snap, you'll never miss a photo.
When the shutter button is pressed all the way, the camera releases the shutter at the preset distance. This high-speed shooting feature is unique to the GR, eliminating focus lag when you press the shutter button halfway so you can instantly capture split-second moments.

Capture the world as you imagine it
Image control for pure imaging pleasure
Conventional picture settings and effects have been merged to create a new finishing adjustment function. 10 different picture control options form the basis of this feature. Based on this, you can adjust the settings to create photos the way you want. This includes saturation, hue, high/low key adjustment, contrast (highlights and shadows), sharpness, shading, clarity, tone, filter effect, grain effect* and HDR tone level.

The settings that can be adjusted differ depending on the selected picture control option.

Shoot up to 6cm with Macro mode
Macro mode allows you to focus with AF between 6 and 12 centimeters from the tip of the lens.

This provides almost the same 0.35x shooting magnification as when converting GM-1 macro.
The lens is set to GR II without the need for an additional lens. Just press the macro button
to capture impressive close-up photos with rich bokeh effects

Macro mode and normal mode must be switched manually.

Capture star trails alongside the surrounding landscape, even in cities, with interval composite shooting
With this feature, the compact digital camera automatically takes photos continuously during the set interval. You can select this feature among the driving modes for instant shooting. The tuning elements have been revised and specialized for star trail shooting. The shooting time can be set in 10-minute intervals (up to 24 hours), you can choose from unlimited shooting time, and you can save intermediate images and set the time.

* Use a tripod. Note that slow shutter speed noise reduction and SR are disabled.
*Focus, exposure and white balance are adjusted when the first shot is taken.

Expand the possibilities of expression with 35mm/50mm Crop mode
With this feature, you can shoot at an angle of view equivalent to a 35mm focal length
or 50mm. 24M high-resolution image sensor helps record clear images
up to 15M (35mm) and 7M (50mm). This mode gives you the possibility to modify the
angle of view depending on the subject when shooting.

* The focal length is equivalent to the 35 mm format and the recorded pixels have a
ratio of 3:2.

Capture dreamlike photos with multi-exposure
There is no longer an image limit for composition. Composite results can be viewed on a transparent screen so you can check the composition while overlaying another image. You can change the exposure setting*, shoot, resume and finish shooting for each shot to easily create exactly the type of photo you have in mind.

* Exposure compensation, ISO speed, aperture and shutter speed can be adjusted according to the exposure mode set for the first image. White balance cannot be changed

RAW format data can be processed on the compact digital camera and saved as a JPEG file.
Adjust the photo exactly how you want using only the camera, adjusting the
recorded pixels, aspect ratio, white balance, image control and sensitivity.

Highlighted weighted option added to full measurement modes
In addition to [Multi-Segment], [Center Weighted] and [Spot], [Highlight Weighted] is now available as a measurement method. [Highlight Weighting] helps maintain an even exposure, suppressing highlight flare in spotlight-lit and high-contrast subjects.

21mm super wide angle photography with a wide angle conversion lens
The new GW-4 wide-angle conversion lens (optional) is compatible with the GR III.
Once attached, the viewing angle is changed to approximately a 90 degree view
(21mm equivalent focal length) for super wide angle shots, enhanced perspectives
and a wide viewing angle.
Shake Reduction is also supported at 21mm focal length.

* The focal length is equivalent to the 35 mm format.
The GA-1 lens adapter is required to attach the GW-4 wide-angle conversion lens.

P-TTL auto-sync flash for versatile lighting
An external flash can be used to take photos at full sync speed.
PENTAX P-TTL autoflash (optional) is supported for high-precision auto-synchronization using a pre-flash*. This allows the use of bounce flash and daylight synchronization for a greater range of photographic expression.

*Supported flashes: AF540FGZ II, AF360FGZ II, AF540FGZ, AF360FGZ, AF201FG, AF200FG auto flash.

Improved smartphone connection via wireless LAN and Bluetooth® compatibility
This model is equipped with wireless LAN. With it, you can connect to a smartphone and use the app to transfer images and control the camera remotely. Bluetooth® v4.2 is also supported for always-on connection with a smart device. Enjoy more convenient features than ever, such as automatically transferring recorded images, saving location information acquired with your smartphone, viewing camera images on your smartphone from the camera even when its state is off, etc. .
