A new construction for unprecedented performances
Thanks to its new processor developed as part of the L2 Technology alliance between LEICA and LUMIX, and its new 25.2MP Live MOS sensor, the Lumix G9II is the first Micro 4/3 body on the market to offer a new autofocus system Hybrid Phase Detection (PDAF) combined with contrast detection technology. Fast and reliable, and offering 779 zones, it is capable of detecting subjects even in movement in difficult conditions such as low light or backlight.

This new hybrid autofocus with Phase + Contrast detection goes even further than that of our recent Full Format ranges, particularly in terms of subject recognition. Indeed, engineers are continually working to improve our technologies, which already allows the LUMIX G9II to benefit from new advances since it will now be able to recognize subjects even better with eye detection of animals, cars, motorcycles and also to distinguish humans and animals separately.

The higher reading speed of this new sensor and the power of the new Venus Engine processor also allow the LUMIX G9II to take incredible AFS electronic burst shots at 75fps, on which rolling shutter distortion is minimized. In mechanical shutter, the G9II is capable of reaching 14fps in AFS and 10fps in AFC. Finally, this advanced design offers textured, natural and three-dimensional images and guarantees rapid processing of high-bitrate videos.

Double Stabilization at the heart of Lumix DNA for incredible images

For handheld photo and video shooting, the LUMIX G9II adopts the new very high-precision 5-axis gyroscope with a new algorithm to achieve 8.0 stops of I.S. sensor stabilization. and 7.5 stops in Dual IS Double Stabilization, from wide-angle to telephoto.

Thanks to this powerful image stabilization, the 100 MP High Resolution mode can be used without a tripod, hand-held. Eight consecutive images are thus automatically taken by moving the sensor using the image stabilization mechanism and combined into a 100 MP (11552 x 8672 pixels) image which faithfully reproduces the most precise details in RAW and JPEG.

Modes dedicated to creation

Creators will be able to benefit from monochrome photo modes and in particular find in their photos the image quality and exceptional expressiveness of LEICA with the LEICA Monochrome mode.
The REAL TIME LUT function allows you to save your color adjustments to simply and quickly calibrate your images.
The legacy video know-how of LUMIX GH
Panasonic's LUMIX GH series sets the standard for its exceptional video recording performance and advanced features that meet professional levels and standards.

The LUMIX G9II inherits this know-how and offers internal 5.7K 30p video recording available in ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422 to allow optimized editing without compression. With 5.7K 4:2:0 10-bit 60p/50p and Anamorphic 5.8K 30p (4.4K 60p) 4:2:0 10-bit recording qualities, the LUMIX G9II offers exceptional resolution and bitrates to enable versatile images, corresponding to all media: cinema, television and all types of video production for social networks.

The LUMIX G9II also supports internal recording in 4:2:2 10bit Cinema 4K 60p, 4K 120p 10bit video recording (slow motion x5) and FHD 240p 4:2:2 10bit HFR (High Frame Rate) with audio . Thanks to the pre-installed Full V-Log, the LUMIX G9II also offers a dynamic range of 13+ stops and integrates the renowned colorimetry of Panasonic VariCam cinema cameras, notably with the V709 LUT (Look Up Table) (Rec.709 standard) available by default in the device. And for the first time, the V-Log preview wizard (which can apply LUTs in real time) now supports importing .CUBE compatible file formats. Finally, the LUMIX G9II will be able to record directly to SSD disk.

A mobile and reliable box designed for the field
The LUMIX G9II features a 3” 1,840K-dot adjustable touchscreen, which allows for greater flexibility and use in many situations. The viewfinder is a 3,680K dot OLED with 0.80x magnification.

Equipped with a dual SD card slot, two ports are also available: an HDMI (type A) 2.1 port and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port for fast writing and reading.

The high-capacity 2200 mAh battery, common with the LUMIX S5, can be recharged from the mains or via the USB port. It also complies with the USB PD (Power Delivery) standard when the corresponding DMW-BTC15 battery charger is used.

Finally, the LUMIX G9II is a connected box compatible with 5-GHz (IEEE802.11ac) and 2.4-GHz (IEEE802.11b/g/n) Wi-Fi. This enables a secure and stable connection not only with a smartphone/tablet, but also with other devices on site for seamless remote control. The photo/video data transmission speed is also increased by the use of the 5-GHz band.

It is also Bluetooth 5.0 compatible (called BLE: Bluetooth Low Energy) for constant connection with a smartphone or tablet with minimal energy consumption.
Device settings can also be copied and transmitted wirelessly to other G9IIs when using multiple devices.

The LUMIX Sync app for iOS/Android devices allows the device to be remotely controlled using a smartphone or tablet via an easy wireless connection. In addition to wireless control via remote control (DMW-RS2 accessory sold separately), LUMIX Tether software allows control of the G9II on PC via USB, to view the image on a large screen while shooting.
