Voigtländer Portrait Heliar 75 mm F1.8 for Nikon Z

Voigtländer Portrait Heliar 75 mm F1.8 Z – Creative portrait lens with Bokeh Control

Redefining bokeh through controlled spherical aberration

The Voigtländer Portrait Heliar 75 mm F1.8 Z is a fast portrait lens designed specifically for full-frame Nikon Z cameras. Its defining feature is the Bokeh Controller, a dedicated control ring that allows photographers to intentionally modify spherical aberration, unlocking creative rendering options rarely found in modern lenses.

Two distinct visual styles can be selected:

• Under-correction: soft focus with gentle glow and exceptionally creamy background bokeh.

• Over-correction: more pronounced focus with distinctive, bubble-like bokeh highlights.

What was once considered an optical flaw is now transformed into a powerful creative tool.

Classic optical design meets modern engineering

Despite its compact Heliar optical design with 6 elements in 3 groups, the lens delivers a bright maximum aperture of F1.8, ideal for shallow depth-of-field portrait photography.

Adjusting spherical aberration typically causes focus shift. Voigtländer addresses this with a clever internal mechanism that synchronizes lens spacing with the Bokeh Controller position, ensuring stable focus accuracy.

A subtle tactile marking on the control ring allows photographers to identify the selected correction range by feel, enabling intuitive operation while shooting.

Premium mechanical precision

Crafted entirely from metal, the Portrait Heliar 75 mm F1.8 Z exemplifies Voigtländer’s renowned mechanical quality. The high-precision metal helicoid, carefully lubricated, provides a silky-smooth manual focusing experience, even at wide apertures.

Electronic contacts transmit EXIF data and support in-camera features such as focus magnification and image stabilization on compatible Nikon Z bodies.

A mechanical aperture ring combined with 9 aperture blades produces smooth, natural-looking out-of-focus highlights, perfectly suited for portrait photography.
