The 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 (model A063) is Sony's bright zoom standard for full frame hybrids and is the successor to the popular 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (model A036). High resolution capability and outstanding image quality are among its most important evolutions. It has a reworked optical formula, but remains as compact as its predecessor. The optical formula incorporates special LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lenses to minimize optical defects. The optical performance is very high at all focal lengths and in all areas of the image. At full aperture, a magnigious bokeh is obtained. These innovations make the 28- 75mm F/2.8 G2 the first choice for those who want to give their creativity free rein.

Minimum focusing distance of only 0.18 and maximum magnification factor of 1:2.7.
The new lens has excellent close-up shooting capabilities. The shortest focusing distance is only 0.18m at 28mm wide angle and 0.38m at 75mm, which is a significant improvement over the first generation A036. The working distance is extremely short at only 4.4 cm. A larger magnification factor of 1:2.7 (28 mm) or 1:4.1 (75 mm) allows for even more detailed close-ups.

Accurate and fast autofocus in all situations
The AF system of the 28-75mm F/2.8 G2 is based on the VXD technology developed by Tamron. The response time of the linear motor is extraordinarily fast and it works with absolute precision. The VXD autofocus focuses on the subject about twice as fast as the previous model (A036). It also focuses almost silently - ideal for video recording.

Customization with TAMRON Lens Utility software
The lens is compatible with the new TAMRON Lens Utility software that was developed by Tamron for the configuration of its new lenses. When the 28-75mm F/2.8 G2 is connected to a computer via a USB-C cable ( supplied separately), various functions can be configured and the lens' firmware can be updated.

New design for better handling and ease of use
It's not just the internal technology of the lens that has been completely revamped, the outer shell too. The design of the 28-75mm F/2.8 G2 foreshadows Tamron lenses to come. The focus ring and zoom ring offer improved magnability. In contrast to previous models, the lens barrel also has a glossy surface that is particularly resistant to scratches and dirt.

TAMRON LENS UTILITY
The new "TAMRON Lens Utility" software has been specially developed by Tamron to configure its own compatible lenses. TAMRON Lens Utility can be used on a computer by connecting the lens to its connection port via the optional TAMRON connection cable. Users can customize functions and update the firmware through the lens. Customization provides flexible shooting options to suit shooting situations such as photography or videography. Through personal configuration, the lens can be optimally adapted to the respective shooting situation, such as photography or videography.
