The FE 35mm F1.4 GM features a circular aperture, thanks to its 11-blade diaphragm - a level of quality rarely seen on a compact lens. Careful control of spherical aberration, both during design and during assembly, contributes to the superb bokeh, an essential feature of G Master optics, which further enhances the subject.

Two innovative XA elements allow for incredibly expressive close-ups, with beautiful bokeh in the background. The combination of a maximum aperture of f / 1.4 and an extended focus range (minimum distance of only 27 cm, with a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.23x in autofocus mode) ensures perfect control and a breathtaking bokeh, in video as in photo.

Two Sony XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors provide the power and efficiency necessary for precise autofocus and subject tracking, delivering remarkable sharpness at any distance. Latest generation control algorithms, specially developed for XD linear motors, improve responsiveness and precision while reducing vibrations and noise: autofocus is therefore crisp, smooth and quiet.

Advanced focus is also available when shooting in bursts or shooting at high frame rates.

Linear Response Manual Focus (MF) is ideal for creating precise and creative focus transition effects in video, ensuring perfect response to even the slightest movement of the focus ring. The rotation of this translates directly into a corresponding linear change in focus, ensuring a feeling of instant and precise control.

Professional controls and reliability

The FE 35mm F1.4 GM offers full image control for professionals, with a focus lock button and mode dial for smooth and efficient operation. The aperture ring has clicks that can be turned off for video shooting; Mounted on an APS-C camera or using Super 35 framing, this lens can be used as a standard 52.5mm equivalent focal length, making it the perfect choice for filming as well. The focus lock button can be used for further functions via the camera menu, providing direct access to functions useful to photographers and videographers alike. The lens is designed for reliability: its structure is dust and moisture resistant [1] and a fluorine coating on the front lens repels water, oil and other dirt.
