The 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary is the latest prime lens to be added to SIGMA's growing I-series lineup. It joins the four existing I-series lenses as well as the new 90mm F2.8, offering superb optical performance, a bright F2 aperture, all-metal construction and a manual aperture ring. Designed from the outset for mirrorless systems, it is perfectly balanced on modern Full Frame cameras and has exceptional resolving power, capable of fully exploiting the latest ultra-high resolution cameras.

New optical performance standards for the Contemporary line

The SIGMA 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary, such as the SIGMA 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary and the SIGMA 65mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary, combines the highest level of optical performance even at its maximum aperture of F2 and a well-balanced body.

The lens uses two SLD glass elements and one FLD glass element to correct axial chromatic aberration, which is a particular concern for bright lenses. It also incorporates two high-precision molded glass aspherical elements, using processing technology from SIGMA's unique production site in Aizu. This has made it possible to limit the total number of optical elements and reduce the size and weight of the lens, while ensuring excellent correction of various aberrations.

In anticipation of wide-angle lens applications, SIGMA optical designers have ensured that the lens resolution is extremely high and uniform from the center to the periphery of the image. Sagittal coma glare is also well suppressed, giving the lens a high degree of rendering power that makes it ideal for night sky photography.

The AF drive system incorporates a quiet and fast stepping motor. This allows photographers to capture every detail of the spacious 24mm scene with smooth AF.

Series I: Exceptional build quality and minimum bulk.

All I-series lenses feature all-metal construction. Precision-cut aluminum parts not only give the lens body an elegant and refined finish, but also provide superb strength, which enhances the quality of the whole product. Metallic materials are also used in the internal structures which slide with the control ring for greater robustness. These high-precision components, made with SIGMA's advanced metalworking technology, are also used in SIGMA's range of cine lenses for film professionals. They provide a tactile and ergonomic feel that makes the lens a pleasure to use.

The ring covering the frame between the focusing ring and the diaphragm ring has a hairline (fine lines) treatment which is also adopted in the mount parts of the Art lenses. This ring serves as a grip for the finger when attaching or removing the lens.
