The I series | "Premium Fixed Focal Points" for users of hybrid cameras
The SIGMA I series is made up of Full Frame compatible lenses that offer hybrid camera users a new and better alternative, both in terms of the experience of shooting with the lens and the impressive results it offers. 'get.
One of the main advantages of hybrid cameras is their very small footprint, and this new 24mm lens is designed to fit perfectly into these more compact systems without sacrificing performance. The combination of superb optical quality and exceptional portability, which was not previously possible with SLR systems, will bring new opportunities to this generation of photographers and the following.
At the same time, SIGMA is aware that in our time, when the diversity of what we use to photograph, as represented by smartphones, is so great that people are looking for something more than just an act. of "shooting" when they choose to own a camera and lenses. SIGMA's excellence in design and production technologies has grown since its inception in 1961, and was further perfected with the introduction of the SIGMA Global Vision range in 2012. On this basis, SIGMA has carefully reflected on how photographers use and enjoy their lenses, including optical design, advanced features, build quality, shooting experience, and lens use. All of these carefully considered factors gave birth to the I-Series.
New optical performance standards for the Contemporary line
The SIGMA 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary, like the SIGMA 35mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary and the SIGMA 65mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary, combines the highest level of optical performance even at its maximum aperture of F2 and a well-balanced body.
The lens uses two SLD glass elements and one FLD glass element to correct axial chromatic aberration, which is of particular concern for bright lenses. It also incorporates two high precision molded glass aspherical elements, using processing technology from SIGMA's only production site in Aizu. This made it possible to limit the total number of optical elements and to reduce the size and weight of the objective, while ensuring excellent correction of various aberrations.
In anticipation of the uses of wide-angle lenses, SIGMA's optical designers have ensured that the lens resolution is extremely high and uniform from the center to the periphery of the image. Sagittal coma glare is also well suppressed, giving the lens a high degree of rendering power that makes it ideal for night sky photography.
The AF drive system incorporates a quiet and fast stepping motor. This allows photographers to capture every detail of the spacious 24mm scene with smooth AF.
Series I: Exceptional build quality and minimum bulk.
All I-series lenses have an all-metal construction. The precision-cut aluminum parts not only give the lens body an elegant and refined finish, but also provide superb strength, which improves the quality of the overall product. Metallic materials are also used in the internal structures which slide with the control ring for added strength. These high-precision components, manufactured with SIGMA's advanced metalworking technology, are also used in the SIGMA line of cinematic lenses for film professionals. They provide a tactile and ergonomic feeling that makes the lens a pleasure to use.
The ring covering the frame between the focusing ring and the diaphragm ring has hairline treatment (fine lines) which is also adopted in the frame parts of Art. This ring serves as a finger grip when attaching or removing the lens.
