With its focal length of 100-400mm, the Vario-Elmar-SL is extremely versatile. Especially for photographing and filming animals, nature, sports and action, it brings you closer to distant subjects - for photos with an unmistakable Leica look and exceptional image quality. Optical Image Stabilizer and precise autofocus help capture movement with crisp contrast. With its compact design and smooth handling, the telephoto lens allows you to react quickly at all times. And thanks to the L-mount bayonet, it doesn't just work in conjunction with SL cameras.

The optical design of the Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400 f/5-6.3 comprises 22 elements in 16 groups. Both outer lenses feature a water and dirt repellent Aqua-Dura® coating.
The removable tripod mount, compatible with ARCA-SWISS, is extremely practical. It can be inserted directly into a suitable mounting system without the need for a quick-release plate, which always guarantees a solid hold when using a tripod. The locking tripod clamp makes attaching the lens seamlessly at any angle, but you can feel it locks every 90 degrees to allow quick changes between portrait and landscape formats.
