The back-illuminated APS-C Exmor™ R CMOS sensor captures memorable images with superb resolution and shallow depth of field. 6K upsampling compresses a lot of information into a 4K recording, and the BIONZ XR™ processing engine delivers natural gradations, realistic colour reproduction and low noise.

S-Cinetone for cinematic rendering without calibration
The S-Cinetone image profile delivers cinema-like colour, skin tones and other visual aspects straight from the camera, without the need for post-production colour grading.

Endless possibilities for expression with S-Log3
The FX30 can use an S-Log3 gamma curve to match colours and take full advantage of the image sensor. You benefit from its colour gamut and latitude of over 14 steps, for cinema-like image quality in post-production colour grading.

User LUTs: accurate previews
Customisable LUTs, either preset or imported by the user, can be applied to the FX30's LCD and HDMI output to give you a more accurate idea of how your final image will look1.

4:2:2 10-bit capture for wide latitude
The FX30 can record 4:2:2 10-bit video internally using Long GOP or All-Intra compression, allowing for more colour information and rich, natural gradations in post-production.

Flexible exposure mode management
Cine EI 2 offers the greatest possible latitude and image quality, while the Cine EI Quick2 option simplifies setup by automatically changing the camera's base ISO. Flexible ISO offers the greatest flexibility in exposure settings.

Dual Base ISO (ISO 800 / ISO 2500)
A function designed to set the base ISO to 2500 instead of 800 in low light conditions. Noise levels are almost identical, for sharper images in low light.

Slow-motion images at up to 120 frames per second
With 4K recording at up to 120 frames per second3 with autofocus, you can create extraordinarily smooth 5x (max.) slow-motion images4 to expand your storytelling options.

Stable and reliable auto focus
Sophisticated tracking functions to help you focus
The FX30 offers stable autofocus and flexible focusing for a wide range of shooting situations. Long Range AF tracks the subject over almost the entire image, with real-time tracking based on Sony's artificial intelligence subject recognition. Real-time Eye AF ensures accurate focus on the face and eyes (of humans, birds and animals)

Image stabilisation for handheld shooting
Active Mode6 is a 5-axis image stabilisation mode that uses a precision gyro sensor and optical compensation system, allowing handheld shooting in 4K resolution without gimbal.

Breathing compensation
When used with compatible lenses, built-in breathing compensation produces more stable images by limiting angle shifts. Additional compensation is also available in post-production software7 through metadata.

External monitors, recorders, batteries, video flashes, extension handles, wireless microphone receivers or other accessories can be securely and stably attached to the FX30's XLR handle.

New Main Menu
Quick access to frequently used functions
While shooting, you can access frame rate10, shutter speed and other essential shooting settings via a list-based main menu. The main menu display can be assigned to a custom button so you can quickly check and change settings before shooting. Separate main menus, optimised for movies and stills, are also available.

CFexpress Type A cards are the next standard in storage. Offering fast read/write speeds, they are suitable for high bit rate 4K recording. Dual slot for relay or simultaneous recording.
