Nikon Z5 IIC Black – Compact and Powerful Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera

A full-frame camera designed for everyday creativity

The Nikon Z5 IIC Black brings the core performance of the Nikon Z5 II into a more compact and streamlined body. By removing the electronic viewfinder, Nikon has reduced the overall height of the camera and created a distinctive flat-top design aimed at photographers and creators who prefer composing their images on the rear LCD.

This makes the Z5 IIC an ideal everyday companion for travel, family events, street photography, video production, and content creation.

Despite its compact dimensions, it retains a genuine 24.5MP Nikon FX full-frame sensor, in-body image stabilization, advanced autofocus, and the powerful EXPEED 7 image-processing engine.

24.5MP FX-format full-frame sensor

At the heart of the Nikon Z5 IIC is a 35.9 x 23.9 mm full-frame BSI CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 24.5 megapixels and a maximum image size of 6048 x 4032 pixels.

The FX format provides excellent image quality, fine detail, strong low-light performance, and greater creative control over depth of field compared with cameras using smaller sensors.

Combined with Nikon's EXPEED 7 processor, the sensor provides responsive operation, sophisticated autofocus, and full-resolution continuous shooting at speeds of up to 30 frames per second.

Wide ISO range for challenging lighting conditions

For still photography, the Nikon Z5 IIC provides a native sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 64,000, expandable from ISO 50 to 204,800.

For video recording, native sensitivity extends up to ISO 51,200, with an expanded maximum of ISO 204,800 depending on the selected recording settings.

This broad sensitivity range allows the camera to operate effectively in everything from bright daylight to very low-light environments.

Advanced autofocus with 10-type subject detection

The Nikon Z5 IIC features a hybrid autofocus system combining phase-detection and contrast-detection AF with 273 autofocus points.

Powered by the EXPEED 7 processor, intelligent subject detection can recognize up to 10 different subject categories, including people, animals, birds, vehicles, and aquatic subjects.

When Auto-Area AF is used, compatible subjects can be automatically detected, focused on, and tracked as they move through the frame.

Autofocus sensitivity extends down to -10 EV, helping the camera achieve focus even in extremely dim conditions.

Up to 30 fps and Pre-Release Capture

The Z5 IIC can capture full-resolution images at up to 30 frames per second.

Its Pre-Release Capture function can preserve images recorded up to one second before the shutter button is fully pressed.

When the shutter button is held halfway down, the camera begins temporarily buffering images. Fully pressing the shutter then saves frames captured just before the decisive moment, making the function particularly useful for unpredictable action.

5-axis in-body Vibration Reduction

The Nikon Z5 IIC incorporates 5-axis sensor-shift Vibration Reduction.

The system provides up to approximately 5 stops of stabilization, helping photographers achieve sharper handheld photographs when working at slower shutter speeds or in low-light conditions.

With compatible lenses, stabilization effectiveness can reach as much as 7.5 stops.

Electronic VR is also available during video recording to provide smoother handheld footage without requiring additional stabilization equipment.

UHD 4K video at up to 60p

The Nikon Z5 IIC is designed as a true hybrid stills and video camera.

It can record UHD 4K video at up to 59.94 fps and Full HD 1080 video at up to 120 fps.

Maximum recording duration can reach approximately 2 hours and 5 minutes, making the camera suitable for interviews, events, presentations, and longer productions.

A video self-timer, electronic VR, internal memory-card recording, and external video output through micro-HDMI are also supported.

12-bit N-RAW and 10-bit H.265 N-Log

For more demanding video workflows, the Z5 IIC supports internal 12-bit N-RAW recording at resolutions up to 4032 x 2268 pixels.

It can also record 10-bit H.265 video with N-Log, providing greater flexibility for professional color grading.

Free RED LUTs can be used to create different cinematic looks.

Its HDMI output supports 4:2:2 8-bit or 10-bit video, including UHD 4K at up to 59.94p.

4K time-lapse and content creation tools

The Nikon Z5 IIC supports in-camera time-lapse shooting and can produce a finished UHD 4K time-lapse movie directly in the camera.

A dedicated Product Review Mode is useful for content creators presenting products directly to the camera.

UAC/UAV compatibility also allows the camera to be used for supported live-streaming and video communication applications without requiring additional software.

Picture Control and creative color options

A dedicated Picture Control button on top of the camera provides quick access to 31 built-in presets, even while shooting in Auto mode.

The effects of these presets can be previewed directly on the rear display before taking the picture.

Through Nikon Imaging Cloud, users can also download Creator Recipes made by other Nikon photographers and integrate them with the camera's existing color profiles.

3.2-inch vari-angle touchscreen

With no built-in electronic viewfinder, composition is primarily handled through the rear display.

The Nikon Z5 IIC features a 3.2-inch fully articulating touchscreen LCD with approximately 1.04 million dots.

Its vari-angle design makes it convenient for low-angle, high-angle, vertical, and front-facing shooting.

Touch operation also allows users to select autofocus points and quickly adjust camera settings.

Display modes for night photography

The Warm Display Colors function can change bright interface elements from white to red, helping to preserve night vision during nighttime shooting.

Starlight View improves screen visibility in extremely dark environments and is particularly useful for astrophotography.

A recording indicator lamp on the front of the camera also makes it easy for subjects to see when video recording is active.

Comprehensive connectivity

The Nikon Z5 IIC provides a broad range of connections for both photography and video:

  • USB-C for data transfer, charging, and USB power delivery;

  • micro-HDMI output;

  • 3.5 mm stereo microphone input;

  • 3.5 mm stereo headphone output;

  • remote-control connection;

  • accessory hot shoe with TTL flash support.

The headphone terminal can also serve as a connection for Nikon's compatible optional MC-DC3 remote-release cable.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Nikon SnapBridge

Built-in Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 provide convenient wireless communication with smartphones and tablets.

The Nikon SnapBridge application for Android and iOS can be used to transfer images, remotely control the camera, display a Live View image on a mobile device, and perform supported firmware updates.

GPS information can also be obtained from a connected smartphone.

Single UHS-II SD card slot

To maintain its compact and accessible design, the Nikon Z5 IIC features a single SD memory card slot compatible with SD, SDHC, SDXC, and UHS-II media.

Support for fast UHS-II cards makes the camera suitable for high-speed continuous shooting and high-bitrate video recording.
