LUMIX Design Philosophy: Giving Shape to Emotions
The new all-black design of the LUMIX S5IIX has been designed to let the creator focus on capturing his subject, without thinking about the camera used. It has been designed to harmonize with the shooting environment and to avoid reflections on the iris or on the recording medium to help artistic creativity.

Crisp images of realism
With the LUMIX S5IIX, recording and playback can be done directly to an external SSD drive via USB. ProRes 422 HQ (1.9 Gbps maximum) and 4:2:2 10-bit All-Intra recording capability directly to SSD improves data backup and post-production efficiency.

30 fps AFC burst shooting
Thanks to the higher reading speed of the new sensor and the higher processing power of the new processor, the LUMIX S5IIX enables AFC burst shooting using its electronic shutter at a speed of 30 fps with a resolution 24.2 megapixels. The higher sensor readout speed also minimizes rolling shutter distortion and captures fast-moving images normally invisible to the naked eye.

96 MP ultra-high resolution recording
The High resolution mode allows you to take ultra detailed shots with a tripod, ideal for nature or architecture photos requiring size and precision of the result. The camera automatically captures eight consecutive images while switching the sensor, and the new processor's high-speed signal processing synthesizes them into an image equivalent to 96 megapixels (12,000 x 8,000 pixels). Also supported are RAW and JPEG file recording during shooting and RAW processing during playback (RAW to JPEG conversion), all with quick access via the transmit dial.

Live Composition Function (Live View Composite)
The camera takes multiple images, creating composite images only in areas of varying brightness. This feature is useful for capturing images of the sky at night, reproducing streaks of starlight or fireworks. Each time the shutter is activated, a composite image is displayed, allowing the user to take photos while validating the results on the spot.

Heat management for unlimited recording time
Unlimited recording time in 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p.* With a compact body equivalent to the S5, the new optimized heat dissipation structure of the LUMIX S5II enables long-time recording even when shooting views in demanding formats. (For example in high resolution video greater than 4K or in HFR video).

*The device may stop recording when used at a temperature below or above the recommended operating temperature (0 to 40 degrees). Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 30 minutes in [6K/29.97p] [6K/25.00p] [5.9K/29.97p] [5.9K/25.00p] when thermal management mode is set to "Standard".

6K 10-bit recording
With 6K (5952 x 3968, 3:2), 6K (5952 x 3136, 17:9) and 5.9K (5888 x 3312, 16:9) 4:2:0 10-bit modes 30p/25p/24p, the LUMIX S5IIX offers higher resolution and bitrates than ever before, and delivers the latest performance in image quality, versatility and expressive range needed for movies, TV and all types of video production.

HFR (high frame rate)
Slow motion recording, a hot trend in video production, is made possible using 10-bit 120p/100p FHD video recording with audio. You can also shoot high resolution videos in C4K/4K 10bit (4:3) and 3.3K 10bit (4:3) at 48p. Nothing could be simpler than taking slow motion photos at the cinematic rate of 24p. In addition, the camera enables tracking focus during HFR video recording.

Slow motion up to 7.5x and quick motion up to 60x
The device can shoot super slow motion videos at 7.5x (FHD 24p/180 fps) with 10-bit recording. Because it is equipped with Slow Motion and Quick Motion modes, the LUMIX S5IIX allows you to easily speed up or slow down your video while shooting. The S5IIX's Quick Motion mode up to 60x (C4K/4K/FHD 60p/1fps) allows you to create emotional images or effectively capture dynamic movements too fast to be seen by the naked eye.

Anamorphic recording
Anamorphic recording with 4:3 aspect ratio is the secret to LUMIX's impressive video performance. The LUMIX S5IIX is capable of capturing video at 3.3K (3328 x 2496) 50p/30p/25p/24p 4:2:0 10-bit. Designed to accommodate anamorphic lenses in a wide range of magnification rates, including 1.33x, 1.5x, 1.8x, and 2.0x, the S5IIX's Anamorphic Desqueeze feature gives you the ability to check the cinemascope-sized image on a screen while turning.

4 channel audio recording
The LUMIX S5IIX provides enhanced audio recording performance, with 4-channel 48 kHz or 96 kHz 24-bit recording possible* when a DMW-XLR1 XLR microphone adapter (sold separately) is connected. This LUMIX S5IIX gives you much greater flexibility when shooting outdoors, for example, when multiple audio sources are present, or when recording backup audio. It now also supports 2-channel 48 kHz 24-bit recording with the built-in mic and 2-channel 96 kHz 24-bit high-resolution recording* with an external mic (sold separately).

Advanced image capabilities

Direct recording to USB-SSD
With the LUMIX S5IIX, recording and playback can be done directly to an external SSD drive via USB. ProRes 422 HQ (1.9 Gbps maximum) and 4:2:2 10-bit All-Intra recording capability directly to SSD improves data backup and post-production efficiency.

･ It is not possible to save high-speed video exceeding 60.00p to an external SSD. ･It is not possible to record videos and photos to the SD card simultaneously with recording to an external SSD. ･Use an external SSD of 2TB or less that is compatible with USB Type-C. We recommend using an external SSD whose operation has been confirmed by Panasonic. All Intra Video
The ALL-Intra compression method, which allows frame-by-frame encoding/decoding, is ideal for non-linear editing. The LUMIX S5IIX can record at a bit rate of up to C4K/4K 800 Mpbs.

*Recording to memory card at a maximum bit rate of 800 Mpbs is possible, while recording at a rate above 800 Mpbs is possible to external SSD via USB cable.

Apple ProRes video codec
You can record video via ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422 codecs, professional industry standards, which deliver superior image quality at low compression. This significantly reduces the load on the computer during post-production and ensures non-linear editing without transcoding, streamlining your workflow from start to finish.
The LUMIX S5IIX can record FHD (1920 x 1080) internally and 5.8K (5776 x 3056, 17:9), C4K (4096 x 2160, 17:9) and 3.3K ( 3328 x 2496, 4:3) to an external SSD via USB.

Wireless live streaming and USB tethering (RTMP/RTMPS)
Enjoy creative live streaming with the LUMIX S range, indoors and out. Live streaming (RTMP/RTMPS protocol) can be easily configured via the LUMIX Sync app (Android/iOS). In environments subject to a lot of radio interference, a stable connection can be ensured by tethering the device to a smartphone via USB.

･Live streaming to platforms compliant with RTMP/RTMPS standards is generally possible (compatibility with all platforms is not guaranteed). There may be instances where live streaming may not be possible when the platform service changes. H.264 and H.265 codecs can be selected.

Choose your favorite streaming strategy to share your latest creations in real time! For outdoor use, wireless live streaming (RTMP/RTMPS) is easy to set up with the LUMIX Sync app. For indoor use, wired and more stable live streaming (RTP/RTSP) is also available.

Hybrid phase detection autofocus for dynamic shooting.
The most important thing with autofocus is that it is reliable. It is essential that the subject is recognized and targeted by the focus quickly and effectively. Not only featuring contrast autofocus, the LUMIX S5IIX is the first LUMIX mirrorless camera to offer a phase detection AF system, which dramatically improves subject tracking and light recognition performance. The camera is able to capture the subject even in particularly difficult scenes where multiple subjects are involved, ensuring high accuracy even in backlit or dimly lit environments.

779-point autofocus
The number of autofocus points has been increased to 779. Improved tracking performance allows the camera to continue capturing even small subjects that become easily blurred. Even when using 1-area autofocus, the autofocus frame can be set to an extremely precise level, allowing the creator to focus on the subject as desired.

Recognition technology based on Artificial Intelligence [AI]
Deep Learning technology enables high-speed, high-accuracy recognition and tracking of humans (face, eyes, heads, and bodies) and animals (dogs, cats, and birds).

Ideal for shots on the move: Active I.S.
LUMIX has long enabled handheld shooting thanks to B.I.S. and 5-axis I.S.2 Dual. Now the LUMIX S5IIX is equipped with Active I.S. which allows shooting while walking, to further improve image stabilization during video recordings. By determining camera shake status and optimizing horizontal, vertical and rotation correction ratios, this system compensates for even severe camera shake, approximately 200% more* than conventional systems.

Dual 6.5-stop I.S. Image Stabilizer 2
5-axis I.S.2 Dual Image Stabilizer combines control of the B.I.S. and the O.I.S. of the lens to provide an effective correction of 6.5 stops.*

24.2 MP CMOS sensor with Dual Native ISO technology
In both stills and video, the LUMIX S5IIX guarantees uncompromising image quality by combining high resolution and phase detection autofocus. Utilizing Dual Native ISO technology familiar to users of professional Panasonic Varicam models, the S5IIX leverages Dual Native ISO settings to minimize noise and maximize image quality, at low or high sensitivity. This feature is in addition to a new processor to ensure maximum ISO 51200 / extended ISO 204800 sensitivity for minimal noise at high sensitivity settings and beautiful expression of dark areas in the frame. Even for professional low-light shooting, the LUMIX S5IIX is ready for action.

Latest generation engine
The new engine provides twice the processing power of the past, enabling high-speed processing of higher resolution, higher bitrate video. It is equipped with technology jointly developed by LEICA and LUMIX. The combination of the new sensor and new motor enables phase detection AF and superior image quality in both stills and video.

14+ V-Log stops and V-Gamut “VariCam Look” technology
This device provides compatibility with Cinema VariCam Look, a dynamic range of more than 14 stops, as well as a very wide color spectrum, with V-Log and V-Gamut pre-installed. Users benefit from incredibly accurate color reproduction, smooth gradations from dark to bright areas, and precise control over color data in post-production. In addition, footage shot with the LUMIX S5IIX can be edited seamlessly with footage shot with VariCam cameras. The end result is more creative and the color expression is flattering. On the other hand, images shot with the LUMIX S5IIX can be seamlessly edited alongside images shot with VariCam cameras.

The LUMIX S5IIX's V-Log provides over 14 stops of dynamic range, which covers the PQ requirements of HDR, while V-Gamut fully covers the HDR color spectrum, giving users access to HDR, anywhere, anytime.

RAW video data output
The LUMIX S5IIX allows RAW video data output of up to 29.97p 5.9K (5888 x 3312, 16:9) / 59.94p 4.1K (4128 x 2176, 17:9) and 3.5K (3536x2656, 4:3) 12-bit via HDMI, to be recorded on the Atomos Ninja V+ HDR screen recorder.
