Superdirectional
Sounds from the front are captured with clarity and ambient sounds are attenuated. A great choice for filming or streaming videos where the subject speaks directly into the microphone.

unidirectional
Sounds from a wide area in front of the device are captured. One-way mode is an excellent choice for recording conferences and meetings.

Omnidirectional
Sounds from all directions are captured with equal sensitivity. Omnidirectional mode captures sound like a typical built-in camera mic, with increased clarity and sensitivity. It is recommended for recording environmental or ambient sounds.

Super-directional (forward + backward)
Sounds from the front and back of the device are captured with equal sensitivity, while sounds from the left and right are attenuated. Super-directional mode records sounds from the subject in front of the camera as well as the voice of the videographer, for clear sound when recording interviews.

Super-directional (rear)
Sounds from the rear of the unit are captured, sounds from the front are attenuated. The super-directional (rear) mode is ideal for storytelling when shooting landscapes.

Super-directional (forward/backward) separated
Sounds from the front (channel 1) and back (channel 2) of the device are captured with the same sensitivity and on separate audio channels, while sounds from the left and right are attenuated. Super-directional mode allows the volume of front and rear sounds to be adjusted individually after video recording, to achieve the perfect balance between sounds coming from the front and rear of the device during editing.

Ultra-directional
The microphone picks up target sound from the front (within approximately 30 degrees) while effectively suppressing other sounds and dynamically adapting to ambient sounds. The ultra-directional mode is suitable for shots where the subject is always facing the microphone, such as interviews or selfies.

Stereo
The clear localization of the left (channel 1) and right (channel 2) sound sources ensures the realism of the video. Stereo mode is ideal for filming moving objects, such as racing cars and trains, or concerts in theaters.

Intuitive directivity selector
A wheel on the back of the microphone makes it easy and intuitive to select the sound pickup modes. Simply align the wheel pointer to the desired sound pickup configuration. A button in the center of the dial locks it to prevent accidental changes.

Internal digital noise filter for clear recording
A digital noise filter effectively suppresses distracting continuous background noise for clear audio recording. A low pass filter is also provided to reduce wind noise, air conditioning hum and other low frequency vibrations. Removing noise at the recording stage decreases the post-production workload and thus improves productivity.

Direct digital audio transfer for high quality sound
When the microphone is mounted on a Multi Interface Shoe with digital audio interface, the digital audio signal is transmitted directly to the camera. No signal degradation occurs, ensuring pristine audio quality.

Furry windscreen included
A furry windscreen is included. Wind noise reduction is possible even when shooting outdoors in windy conditions.

Effective suppression of mechanical noise
Its design dampens shock and vibration, for effective reduction of low-frequency vibration noise. The cable-free system also eliminates the mechanical transmission of vibration noise to the microphone typically caused by cables.

Cordless and battery-free operation
Support for the Multi Interface Shoe lets you shoot without batteries or wires, and start recording as soon as the microphone is attached. Power is supplied directly from the camera, so you can keep shooting without worrying about the mic's battery level. The camera's vari-angle LCD screen can be used in any position, without being blocked by the microphone cable.

Compact size for better portability
Its impressive compact size (64.4 mm long) and light weight (65 g) ensure great shooting freedom and excellent mobility. The microphone doesn't get in the way when taking selfies or using a wide-angle lens. Its compact size also makes it easy to use with gimbals and grips.

Support 4 channel recording
The ECM-M1 supports 4-channel recording on compatible devices, with channels 3 and 4 capable of omnidirectional backup. These channels can record backing tracks in omnidirectional mode (fixed for channel 3, and -20 dB5 fixed for channel 4), with the main audio being recorded on channels 1 and 2 with the directionality mode selected.

Dust and moisture resistant
