Dual-channel wireless microphone for digital recording
The ECM-W3 consists of two transmitter microphones equipped with high signal-to-noise ratio microphone units and a dual-channel receiver. The transmitters and receiver process the sound digitally and transmit it wirelessly, for crystal-clear recordings with minimal noise.

High-quality dual-channel digital transmission
If the dual-channel receiver is connected to a Sony device1 that supports the Multi Interface Shoe, such as an α™ series interchangeable lens digital camera or a vlog device, the digital audio signal output from it may vary. record directly into the camera body, for quality results with minimal noise.

Noise filtering functions
The microphone is equipped with a noise filter that uses digital signal processing, and a low-pass filter that reduces noise in the low frequency range. With less noise to eliminate in post-production, workflows are more efficient.

Compatible with Multi Interface Shoe claws
The receiver easily attaches to Sony devices1 compatible with the Multi Interface Shoe, such as α™ series interchangeable lens digital cameras or vlogging devices, without cables, for immediate sound acquisition without interference with the screen Variable-angle LCD, even when open. You benefit from greater mobility to take your shots.

The advantages of wireless transmission
The ECM-W3 consists of two transmitter microphones and a dual-channel receiver that enable wireless capture of voices from two speakers. Communication is possible up to 150 m2 with Bluetooth 5.3 and LC3plus3 codecs ensuring low power consumption, low latency and high quality sound. The power saving feature helped reduce the battery size.

Security and mitigation features
The safety feature4 allows simultaneous recording of two audio signals, one at normal volume and the other 20 dB lower, reducing the risk of clipping. The attenuation function allows you to adjust the recording level to one of three values depending on the sound volume.

Audio input/output for microphone
On the mic side, a 3.5mm minijack (monaural) is provided as an external mic input terminal. A 3.5mm (stereo) minijack on the receiver serves as the audio output terminal. In addition to capturing sound using a compatible stereo lavalier microphone, output to devices not equipped with a Multi Interface Shoe is also possible.5

USB digital audio output
Digital audio output (48 kHz / 24 bit) from the receiver can be via USB cable to a smartphone or PC, or to a compatible device with USB6 audio input for recording.

Compact and ultra-light design
Compact and lightweight, the microphone-transmitter units and receiver are both very easy to use and transport. Designed to resist dust and humidity7, they can be used outdoors in complete safety.

Status notification functions
The LINK indicator indicates the transmission status between the microphone and receiver to avoid recording errors. Power indicators on the microphone and receiver indicate the battery charge level to prevent recording errors due to a discharged battery.

Backup battery function
The receiver is powered directly by α™ series interchangeable lens digital cameras or vlog8 devices.

Compact charging case
The compact charging case included with the device allows you to continue recording without worrying about running out of batteries. The microphone-transmitter unit can work continuously for approximately 6 hours on a full charge.

Windscreen (included)
The included windscreen helps reduce wind noise that may occur when the microphone is exposed to a particularly strong blast or wind. It allows stable and clear recording of the interlocutor's voice, even when recording outdoors.
